Artistic Director: Yuko T. Koach

As Founder & Artistic Director of KC Beauty Academy, as well as an accomplished hairstylist in the film and entertainment industry, her unique wealth of knowledge and experience can help guide our students’ careers and provide them with an insider’s perspective of the entertainment business. Yuko has worked in the film and entertainment industry in both Japan and Hollywood. She first began her career in Japan but quickly rose to the top of her profession in Hollywood as a hairstylist, working in films and TV shows such as Michael Jackson’s “This is It,” “Pushing Daisies,” “Hunger Games” and “Memoirs of a Geisha.” For three consecutive years, she had Emmy nominations for Outstanding Hair Stylist. Licensure education Charisse MuhammadLicensure Educator: Charisse Muhammad

Our Licensure Educator, Charisse Muhammad, is a professional hair designer and has been a licensed hair stylist since 2010. Her passion is to create fashion-forward hairstyles, while maintaining the integrity of her clients’ hair. Charisse has been pleasing her clientele with her expertise in hair extensions and natural hair. She is a hairstylist at Avalon Villa, doing hair for convalescent clients along with being a stylist at a senior living home. At KC Beauty Academy she is responsible for both theory and practical skills for the State of California Licensure exams in Cosmetology, Manicure and Esthetics. Our students have an over-90% pass rate, receiving their licenses in Cosmetology, Manicure and Esthetics on their first attempt.

 

Manicure Instructor: Shaunda King

Shaunda started doing hair at a very young age, and at 19 attended Richard’s Beauty School in Fontana, taking the Cosmetology course. She has been a licensed professional for 30 yrs, working in salons, even owning her own braiding salon in San Bndo, Ca,working on film and television, earning herself IMDb credits, music videos,ad campaigns and photo shoots. Shaunda attended Riverside Community College to be trained as a Cosmetology Instructor, and attended the University of San Diego Extended Program after gaining her instructor license, and is currently earning her BA in Business Administration while she works and teach, she has experience in all levels of education, from freshman to state board prep for upcoming graduates and has been teaching in the profession for 17 yrs, not only focusing on Cosmetology, but Nail Care and Skin Care as well. In 2016 she became a Cosmetology Teacher Trainer to help instructors become better educators.
